What was once a vacant, heavily contaminated site along the banks
of the Chicago River is now a modern 112,000 SF sorting facility
for Federal Express. Working together with Federal Express’
environmental staff, hazardous waste consultants and the Illinois EPA,
we developed and managed a plan to mitigate the contaminated soils
without endangering the water quality of the river. We also negotiated
tax increment financing through the City of Chicago to pay for the
cost to clean up the site and restore the river sea wall.
